Here’s a medieval torture rack that I threw together.. it’s mostly popsicle sticks, matchsticks and wooden coffee stirrers. The manacles are plastic straw-type coffee stirrers that are super-glued to a metal ring that goes through the chain. The gearbox that the lever is sticking out of is made from two popsicle stick tips.
Sometimes I find it’s easier to prepaint tiny parts as I assemble them, before attaching them to whatever they’re going on:
