I have decided to simplify my web presence. I deleted wordpress. I got tired of the constant updates, as well as the tens of thousands of files it encompasses, with many of them reaching out to who knows who. I have joined the indie web. I love the philosophy behind it, and plan on implementing it on my own site going forward.
